The Case Against (and for) Apple

In a recent article “The Case Against Apple–in Five Parts” Jason Calacanis, CEO of Mahalo.com, outlined his personal issues with Apple’s current product line, one in which he believes stifles the industry, consumer choice, and pricing.

What transpired, 190 comments (and counting) about the opinion article, a number of blog posts lambasting and deconstructing Calacanis’ position, and an online viral debate about the case for and against Apple.

Lead developer at Tumblr, Marco Arment, replied with “Planet Calacanis”, by far the most scathing response to Calacanis in which he states: “I’ve seen a lot of people quoting and linking to Jason Calacanis’ recent article, The Case Against Apple—in Five Parts, in a positive light. But I can’t. It’s ridiculous.” – Marco Arment, August 2009. More on the debate:
