Crowdsourcing Music: Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro

In a brilliant example of  crowdsourcing and creativity Japanese indie band Sour’s music video for “Hibi no Neiro” looks like a You Tube user video collaboration using webcams and what appears to be a group of friends engaged in a coordinated online effort. However, the music video is professionally produced by four directors, Magico Nakamura, Masayoshi Nakamura and BBH, New York creatives Masa Kawamura and Hal Kirkland.

Faced with a “literally no budget at all,” the directors of ‘Habi no Neiro crafted a beautiful and engaging music video using fans of the band, a community with shared common views and ideas about the expression and meaning of the song. The final product? With a lot of hard work, carefully planned coordination and execution with fans of Sour and the song ‘Hibi no Neiro, a crowdsourcing music video at it’s best.
