I’ve included a few links of my favorite most relevant sites for NYC and a few additional examples of hyperlocal publications, of course this is not an exhaustive list and isn’t meant to be definitive; these simply represent the few that I visit most often (most more than once) and the sites outside of NYC that work well servicing local communities.
I could easily extend this into a list of 100+, so please share in the comments. What sites are can’t-miss for you!
Hyperlocal (reconnecting newspapers with readers)
- everyblock.com (NYC organizing local data)
- streetsblog.org NYC)
- missionlocal.org (SF)
- inemeryville.org (SF)
- oaklandnorth.org (SF)
- northwestvoice.com (Bakersfield, CA)
- yourhub.com/ (CO, FL)
- ibrattleboro.com (VT)
Although neighborhood blogs (and there are many) and online hyper-local publications are completely interconnected, and the distinction between the two is subjective, I purposely left out neighborhood blogs – e.g. everything you’ll find here for NYC at nycbloggers.com.
